Brain Research

Nearly every day contributions about recent insights into the domain of neuroscience are published in the science-sections of national and international newspapers and magazines. This is not surprising since the reality we live in is the result of neurophysiological processes: There would be no perceptions, judgements, emotions, decisions or actions without this complex organ.

Still the brain is a terra incognita. Only in the past decades, methods have been developed which can enable us to gain fascinating insights under the skull. Some methods imply the use of ionising radiation (e.g. X-rays or PET) – however in the meantime there exist entirely safe methods such as the magnetic resonance imaging which we use.

The most exciting expeditions do not go to Moon or Mars any longer- but right into our head, into the human consciousness.
